Japanese Classes Available
*NEW* Beginner’s Japanese Course
The City of Miyakonojo will be offering a free Japanese language course to foreign residents.
Period Every Saturday from May 12th - November 24th, and June 10th (Sunday)
(There will be no classes on June 9th and throughout the entire month of August.)
Time 7:00 P.M. - 8:30 P.M. (July 10th will be from 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.)
Note: The above schedule may be subject to change depending upon the teacher’s circumstances.
Location MJ Hall
Course fees As a general rule, the course is free. However, there may be a materials fee necessary for
the class on June 10th.
Capacity Class size is limited to 10 people. If there are many applications, applicants will be screened
based on the following criteria.
1) Those who are living in Miyakonojo
2) Those who have no other place to study Japanese such as at work
3) Those who have not taken a city-sponsored Japanese language course in the past.
4) Those who do not have many coworkers attending the class

the Internationalization Section.
The application form may be turned in to the Internationalization Section of the Life and Culture Division at
Miyakonojo City Hall (2nd floor, beyond the elevators on the south side of the east wing of the main building),
you may send it in by fax (FAX 0986-23-3223) or you may submit the completed Excel or PDF document by
email to
intl@city.miyakonojo.miyazaki.jp.

Japanese Language Salon
Have you already started learning Japanese but need some personal help? Why not try studying Japanese
at the Japanese Language Salon? The teachers who volunteer for the salon will assist you in your study of
the Japanese language. Practice your conversational skills and work on exactly what you want to study.
Guidance is generally given one-on-one.
Date: Lessons begin on August 6th, 2010 and continue once a week every Friday
Time: 1:30PM - 3:00PM
Location: Community Center
Participation Fee: Free!
No matter whether you are just beginning to study Japanese or whether you have been studying for years,
appropriate guidance will be provided for your level.
