On January 1st, 2006, the City of Miyakonojo and the towns of
Yamanokuchi, Takajo, Yamada and Takazaki merged, creating
the new City of Miyakonojo. Thanks to the vigorous support from
the public I have been elected the first mayor of the new
Miyakonojo. Because this is a crucial position continued from
the old Miyakonojo City, I will do my best to live up to the
expectations and duties entrusted to me by the public. The new
City of Miyakonojo has accomplished its mission of merging but
there are many challenges and new possibilities ahead of us.
Your opinions are essential to the development of the new city. I
will strive to attain the goal of building a city that is youthful,
charming and vigourous with your understanding and
co-operation.
